Newsletter Term one Week 2 2025

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome back to Term 1 2025!

I hope that you had a refreshing and recharging holiday break and are excited for the new school year. Please try and access the fortnightly newsletters that are published on SWAY. They hold a collection of important information and updates on school events.

We have some new staff starting this term.

Please make them feel welcome and embrace them into the Leeming School Community.

Major events

Public School Review: We have the school’s review in Week 4, Term 2. This is a reflection and validation process of all aspects of the school. It takes a lot of time to prepare, and this process has already begun. However, it will take a lot of my focus and time during Term 1

Project Kaartdijin: During term 2 we will be swapping over to this new online data storage system. This new programme will be an improvement, but the migration will take time and focus.

First Week Report

We had a great first day with all classes reporting having a positive time. It was a bit hot, so we called an extreme weather day, opened the library and asked students to stay in the shade. Having such a smooth start doesn’t happen by accident though and there was a lot of time and planning already put in by the whole staff.

Welcome to our new families and we look forward to seeing parents at the first events.

EXTREME HEAT AND HEATWAVES – DEPT of EDUCATION

Periods of extreme heat and heatwaves have much higher temperatures than usual. These events can pose serious health risks, like heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and may impact infrastructure and services. The Department of Health declares a heatwave when the maximum and minimum temperatures are unusually high for 3 consecutive days, compared to the normal local climate.
