This year students in Rooms 1, 3, and 11 have been studying the Hiragana syllabary (similar to an alphabet) as part of their Japanese studies. They have been doing small ‘grading’ Hiragana reading tests, modelled after gradings in Japanese martial arts.
At a recent Monday mini-assembly, three students were presented with their black belt in Hiragana reading. They were: Andrew, Ru-Xun and Kai Wei. Yoko dekimashita!
Room 1 and Room 3 have been having fun with chopsticks! The students were challenged to pick up as many 1cm cubes as they could, within one minute. Students competed against other students of a similar chopstick-skill level. Overall, the record was set at 83 blocks, by Kai Wei.
