From the Principal

Dear Parents,

We are pleased that the restrictions for Covid 19 have been lifted and our staff can return to work without the face masks and use of contact registers.  We are continuing with our extra Covid cleaning.

NAPLAN

Naplan testing has commenced for Year 3 and Year 5 students.   We are hoping to complete Naplan testing this week.  This is an annual test for the year 3’s and 5’s. It provides some useful information for the school and the Department.  We don’t however wish for the testing to cause stress to the students and we are not making it more important than it is. If your child is showing an anxiety regarding the upcoming tests please reassure them and practice with them the skills they have learnt in mindfulness, this may help.

Public School Review

Leeming PS is undergoing a self-review audit process. This will be supplemented with a validation visit from a Director of Accountability and a peer Principal which will take place on May 25.  We are now putting the final touches on our review document and would like to acknowledge and thank the staff and community for their support in providing feedback for the review.

Mothers Day

We wish all the mums happy Mother’s Day.   We hope you had a wonderful day and enjoyed the gifts made at school by the children.  They were all so very excited and proud to create that special something just for you.

Thank you

Girls Champions Cup

On Friday the 7th of May, fourteen year 5/6 girls, dubbed the Leeming Legends; attended the Girls Champions Cup interschool soccer competition. The girls demonstrated their commitment to the event, attending before school training leading up to the day.

On the day, we were greeted with glorious weather for a fun day of soccer. All the girls put in a spectacular effort, showing immense support for each other and fantastic sportsmanship. The whole team jumped with excitement when we scored our first goal and jumped even higher when we won our first game!

Overall, the day was a huge success, with the team coming in 5th place. Every match was competitively close, meaning the spectators were in for a real treat. A big thanks to the parents who came down and provided positive team support, and of course to Mr Emby for making an appearance and boosting team morale.

Well done Leeming Legends!

Mr Graham.
