We are halfway through Term 3 and going well! We are ticking off some of our big events and are pleased with the outcomes. We are still awaiting the NAPLAN results to come through. We are doing some preparation around lock down planning, in case we have to deal with it at some stage. We are sad to see Ms Sharrock go on long term leave, but are happy that we have Mr Lam to takeover room 15.
School Development Day
Yesterday we held a school development day covering a variety of educational topics. It was very valuable and we appreciate the flexibility of holding this mid-term. We covered sessions on preparing for possible Remote Learning with a practice run web cam staff meeting, reviewing our progress against the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework, reviewing progress against the School Business Plan and looking at a different way to approach students with challenging behaviors.
The school is committed to developing the next crop of Primary School Teachers and are hosting 12 student teachers from Murdoch University. They will be spread out through the school experiencing school life.
Last week we took the Year sixes on camp for the first half of the week and we took the Year fives on camp for the second half of the week. A huge thankyou to the staff (as well as Mrs Clifton and Mr Brayshaw) for giving up their personal time to make it happen. They showed amazing amounts of energy and enthusiasm to make camp fun for everyone. It was the first time that we had run camp like this and it was a great success. I went with the Year sixes and we had an excellent camp. The students had fun, worked cooperatively and were often pushed outside their comfort zones. Sometimes this was through challenging heights or just having different foods to eat.
Week 7: I am responsible for my actions even when I make mistakes.
Week 8: I model good behaviour without direct supervision.
