From the Principal

It’s hard to believe that we are in week 4 of Term 3, time is going quickly.

We are half way through our Drama program for the seniors, and preparation for swimming in weeks 9 and 10 this term is underway.

It is at this time that we usually test the Year 4 students for entry into PEAC.  I have been informed that the testing will definitely go ahead this year, but the dates for the test are uncertain at this time. I will let you know as soon as they are announced.

The senior students, both boys and girls did a wonderful job at the Glory Cup soccer last week.  It makes us proud to be associated with students who play well, show excellent sporting behaviour and represent their school in such a responsible way.

The juniors have been having some great times as well – a Teddy Bear’s picnic was the highlight of last week.  Very exciting. The new monkey bars are proving to be very popular, and the students are all working towards Olympic Gymnastic standards. Thanks for your hard work Mrs Kidd.

Room 8 Assembly Writing

Our Absolutely Amazing Class Assembly

This morning, I felt “exervous” (excited and nervous) because it was our class assembly! I got ready early and soon it started.  There was a huge audience and my dad was there.

First, we started it off with Sienna saying an Acknowledgment of Country followed by Tayah.  Next, Mr Emily revealed who received the Value Awards.  After that, Lucas and Amaya had a successful part introducing our play.

Then Ashleigh, Skye and I described the Twits. Soon after, Mrs Twit (Emily) and Mr Twit (Koby) came on stage. They both looked hideous and hilarious, especially Emily. Mrs Twit put worms in Mr Twit’s spaghetti. Mr Twit got her back by putting a frog in her bed.

Next, the Roly Poly Bird and the other two birds glued all of the Twit’s furniture upside down. When the Twits came home, they were amazed but Mrs Twit had an idea. If they stood on their heads and everything would be right side up. The birds quickly put glue on the Twits’s heads. The Twits were stuck!

After, Lexi finished telling the story by saying that the Twits were indeed stuck. Everyone yelled, “Hooray!” Finally, we sang our song and James, David and Chloe closed the assembly.

I felt amazed by how much everyone had improved. I felt ecstatic. Our assembly was splendid!

Our Fabulous Class Assembly

On the 6 August, it was Room 8’s assembly. We performed the hideous Twits by Roald Dahl. I felt nervous at the start but awesome at the end.

First, Sienna introduced the Whadjuk Noongar people. Then, Tayah asked Mrs Sutton to lead us in the National Anthem. After Mr Emby gave out the Values Awards, we got into the play. James and I were Mr Twit. All we did was playing nasty tricks on Mrs Twit.

Finally, we sang the “Thankful” song. Everybody laughed at Mr Twit. I felt excellent and very brave. Mum said I was awesome. The funny part was when my head stuck on the ground. I had such a great time!

Room 8 presents you “The Twits”

This morning, it was our assembly. I was very scared. I woke up at six o’clock to get ready. It was also my sister’s birthday. After breakfast, I went to school.

When I was walking to school, I had butterflies in my tummy. But I stood tall and walked to the classroom. At first, I couldn’t find anyone. Then, my mum said they must be in the classroom.  And she was right. Everyone was inside, I saw so many great costumes. I thought Emily had the best Mrs Twit outfit of all.

At about 8.45 am, we moved to the undercover area, then all the other classes arrived. When we started the assembly, Sienna talked about the Acknowledgement of Country. After that, Amaya and I introduced our play, The Twits. When I said my first words, I felt terrified. But I stood up and spoke clearly.

Finally, we sang the song “Thankful”. Everyone was singing and doing the actions. After the song, I ran to my mum and gave her a big hug. That was the best! At the end of the assembly, I felt proud.

Our Amazing Class Assembly

This morning, I got up early to get ready for my class assembly. My grandma and grandpa were coming to my assembly. I was very excited.

First, when I went to the classroom, everyone was in their costumes. We were mostly excited and nervous. When we arrived at the undercover area, we got to sit on the mats in front of the curtains. All the other classes and teachers were there. I could feel all the eyes watching us.

Next, we started the assembly. Sienna presented the Acknowledgement of Country like we always do every time we start an assembly. Then, Tayah asked Mrs Sutton to lead us in the national anthem. Sophie invited Mr Emby to hand out the certificates.

After, Amaya and Lucas told the audience that our assembly was about The Twits. Ashleigh talked about how awful the Twits were. Emily and Koby were the Twits, they played tricks on each other. Emily put worms in Koby’s spaghetti. Sienna and James were the Twits too. Mr Twit wanted to get Mrs Twits back, so he put a frog in her bed. Sienna pretended to faint and everyone laughed.

After Elise, it was my turn to speak. All I could think about was if I would say something wrong. But I didn’t mess it up! I got all my words in the right order. I was so proud of myself!

Finally, Ruby and Lexi said their part and we said, “Hooray!” At the end, our class sang the song “Thankful” and the assembly was closed. We played Farmer Sam. It was so much fun!

Our Phenomenal Class Assembly

On the morning of 6 August, I felt excited and nervous for my class’s assembly. When it was time for the assembly, I felt I had butterflies in my tummy.

First, Sienna started the assembly by respectfully acknowledging the Whadjuk Noongar people. Then, Tayah asked Mrs Sutton to lead us in our National Anthem. After that, Sophie invited Mr Emby to hand out the certificates.

Next, the play started! Mrs Twit put worms in Mr Twit’s spaghetti! Mr Twit didn’t like it. He said it was too squishy and bitter. Then Mrs Twit explained why. She cackled with laughter. For revenge, Mr Twit put a frog in Mrs Twit’s bed! When the Twits went to bed, Mrs Twit felt something in her bed. Then, she fainted.

At the end of the play, we sang a thankful song. I felt fantastic! I think many people thought that our class assembly was PHENOMENAL!
