Dear Parents,
Congratulations on surviving the first half of the term. It has been a challenging and very different term so far. We seem to be moving into a new phase of COVID19 management which is a slow return to normal. As of June 6 we will be implementing Phase 3 into WA schools. The largest impact of this will be:
For our schools, as part of the announcement parents/carers will be permitted to enter school grounds to drop off or pick up their children from Monday, 8 June. Contact sport and training will also be able to resume. The 4 square metre rule will be reduced to 2 square metres.
Although we miss our interactions with parents there has been some positives. We have really seen the independence of the Year’s 1 and 2 students grow, I would encourage making the most of this and keep letting students have as much independence as possible. They are very capable now of organising themselves for the day, unpacking their bags and entering the class.
We are working through the implications and will have some clarity of how the new rules impact upon whole of schools events around other events.
I hope that you had a super long weekend and you are recharged for the last 5 weeks. I must have needed a break as I managed to put on different coloured boots in the dark on Friday morning! Haha!
SDD
On the School Development Day, the staff undertook a range of activities. Most of the teaching staff renewed their first aid qualifications and the Education Assistants completed training related to Epilepsy and Diabetes.
Toilets
The second stage of our toilet upgrade started with demolition work over the long weekend. Clusters 2, 3 and 4 will be out of action for around 4 weeks. During this time, students will access the upgraded toilets in Cluster 1 and 8 portable toilets that have been situated in the old undercover area so that they are out of the rain. I apologise for any inconvenience, but the upgrades are really required and the new toilets will be worth the wait.
Staffing
Unfortunately, Ms Thomson will be unavailable for another couple of weeks. During this time Mrs Kidd will continue assisting me in the Deputy role.
