From The Principal – Fortnightly updates
Welcome back to Term 4
I hope that everyone had an excellent holiday and are recharged for Term 4. We have a busy term planned with thoughts already turning to next year.
In the next newsletter I will provide a form for parents to provide feedback on the possible class structure for next year. These are fragile things that can and do change, if our numbers change by a few students.
This process is an opportunity for parents to provide input into the process. It is mostly to remind us of past events. This might look like…
With class changes, my child has had Ms X two years in a row, although she is lovely we would prefer a new teach for next year.
My son has always been with his twin, I would like that to continue.
It’s not so much a process for…
We don’t like split grades (split grades are a part of most schools and do not impact upon student learning)
We would like a male teacher and be with these two friends and be in the split class , but not if Ms X is teaching it. (Complicated/multiple requests are harder to consider.)
Keep an eye out in the next newsletter and then there will be a couple of weeks to get these back to me. It is a long and challenging process to create the class lists taking into account multiple educational and social factors. This process is started by the administration and then worked with the whole staff. If we can get the process mostly finalised, we will again be able to run a whole of school transition morning similar to the one we undertook last year. On this morning while most of the year sixes are at high school transition we will put the students into their classes for 2020.
1:1 Laptop Programme
This school initiative for Yrs 4-6 will be continuing. The school has invested this year in professional development for the staff to ensure that the students will get the best use out of their devices. In the next few weeks we will be sending out information to the Yr 3 parents regarding entering the programme for next year
Week 3: I am on time, organised and ready to learn.
Week 4: I follow the instructions of staff.
School Photos are in Week 4 on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th November 2019.
A note was sent home yesterday to each family with information about ordering photos.
Kapture have introduced an online only ordering system for purchasing photos, a personalised flyer will be issued to each individual student in the coming week. The school office will have a computer set up to assist with online ordering if you do not have access to a computer. The access will be available once the flyers have been sent out.
Orders can be placed before the lead up to and for 10 days after the photo shoot being 16/11/19 without incurring any fees. A late fee of $15 will be charged if orders are placed after the 16/11/19.
