News from The Principal

Welcome to Week 8 Term 3.

The last 2 weeks have been dominated by swimming lessons. It is a big commitment from all involved, but it is worth it. The students have been enjoying their lessons. The pool, complex and organisation have been terrific.

This is my last week for the term and I will see everyone in Week 3 of Term 4. Thank you to everyone for their hard work in making Leeming Primary School a fantastic place to send students and to work at.

Take care and have a great end of term holiday. Ms Thomson will be Principal in my absence.

Good luck to the students representing the school at the State Schools’ chess competition next week. I also hope that Open Night and School Photos go well.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Leeming Primary School proudly develops good behaviours through a positive behaviour support methodology. Students are directly taught behaviours and rewarded for demonstrating them. This week’s behaviour is “I proudly wear my uniform”.

Ms Gordon is taking some leave and we have a new teacher coming on board to teach Art. Ms Jackson Betham is the current Art teacher at Banksia Park and will be joining us for one day a week. Please make her welcome

We are interviewing this week for the permanent Science teacher position.

 Thanking You

P&C Fundraising News

We’ve had a great year of FUNdraising for our school, and now we’re getting ready for the BIG ONE!

The Leeming Primary School Carnival Capers Fete will be held on Sunday November 26th

That’s only 3 months away, can you believe it?

Now is the time to chat to your class rep about your special class stall, what help is needed for the stall or other ways you can help out on the day.

If you have friends or rellies who would like a Fete stall please ask them to contact Merri Ford at for applications and information packs.

Room 6 would like books for their Second-hand book stall. Any books in good condition would be greatly appreciated. They can be placed in the box in the junior cluster wet area (outside Mrs Douglas’ classroom).

Room 5 would like small inexpensive prizes for boys and girls of various ages for their Pluck-a-duck game. Some ideas include hair ties, matchbox cars, bubble wands, notebooks, pens/textas, marbles, glow sticks, money boxes… the list can go on! Please leave them in the clear tub in the wet area next to Room 5/6/7 (just inside the main door). There will also be a box in the office to leave prizes in.

Room 7/8 need volunteers for the Sausage Sizzle.

Don’t forget to “like” the Fete’s Facebook page:

What we’re fundraising for

We aim to raise $20,000 this year to upgrade the ICT facilities available in Kindy and PP, including purchasing portable interactive white boards (smart boards) and new iPads.

If you have an idea for fundraising, please contact the Fundraising Co-ordinator or a Class Parent Rep. As per the WACCSO guidelines ALL school fundraising must go through the P&C.

If you have any queries or want to help, please see Merri Ford, Fundraising Co-ordinator.

Dr Cameron Stelzer – Author and Illustrator Visit – Tuesday 19th September

Author Visit – Cameron Stelzer

On Tuesday 19 September, we have a special visit from author and illustrator Dr Cameron Stelzer. Cameron is visiting Leeming Primary School to run workshops with our students. K-2 students will enjoy an interactive Big Screen Book Reading, with some Year 1-2 students participating in a follow-along drawing activity with Cameron. Year 3-4 students will participate in a writing workshop focusing on idea formation and inspirations for narratives. Cameron will be working with Year 5-6 students to create blockbuster action stories – think gripping suspense scenes, epic action encounters and hold-on-to-your-seat cliff-hangers. Students and teachers are looking forward to a fantastic day!

In conjunction with the Author Visit, Leeming Primary School families have a special opportunity to purchase signed and personalised copies of Cameron’s books at special prices. Individual items are $15 each and there are also exclusive book sets available. Students will receive an order form on the day of the workshops. Forms and payment can be returned the following day, Wednesday 20 September, to the Office. Cameron will personally sign all books (including the child’s name), and students will receive their books early the following Term.
